It illustrates and informs the staging of the war contests and the identification of the strategic squares associated with the war of the Spanish Succession (1701-1713). Subject that has its visual account through the allegorical and baroque billboards, the figures of ships in battle and the fortified scenes of the ports.
It exposes the fighting that took place on 24 August 1704 between the Anglo-Dutch and Franco-Spanish squadrons off the coast of Velez-Málaga. The piece is a reissue of the map made by Stridbeck in 1710, whose plates Bodennehr bought after his death. The Kingdom of Granada is represented only on its maritime facade. The information is narrowed to point to the main ports, anchorages and watchtowers.
